Michelle Cho’s “Movies With Mish” website as the tagline suggests, is her commentary about her favorite films. After going through the website, I have added my constructive review below about the website.
The Home Page greets us with a huge potato faced character sitting on a couch grabbing popcorn, indicating again that the website is going to show us reviews about films. The whole website is a very simplistic and easy-to-navigate for a user with the text and the menu bar well established at the home page, with the user knowing the website is in a vertical scroll method. The color scheme and text sizes create a good hierarchy throughout the website. All of Mish’s posts throughout the page however is left aligned leaving a lot of empty space on the center and right making it 2/3rd of the website page being empty which could be worked on. Her process posts and mini assignments are well explained and go with what is asked off our course. The blog posts are well written and detailed as she goes in detail about her thoughts and views about the film she is talking about, with the films well explained.
Comparing to our class readings on how to build our own online presence, Mish’s website has a strong foundation of how she wants people who view her website and portray herself to the world through that. As the About Me page says, she has started this blog to write about her passions and something more chill than the academic writing that she does on a weekly basis. Choosing this idea of writing reviews about movies she has watched is interesting and it caters to a huge community of audience because who doesn’t like watching movies? I like the fact how her movie blogs are more to do with genre and a number movies, showing everyone that she has a big catalogue that she wants to talk about to everyone and try and cover more genres as well so that her website does not becomes very specific and for a small nich.
To end with, she has done a good job presenting her website, making it more easy to take in as a viewer and understand her contentn as well. I would suggest aligning the columns and monetizing her websites since she could definitely add some ads on her site to fill up the empty spaces.
