POST 2 – ENCOUNTER WITH STRANGER

Talking to a stranger out-of-nowhere is often very difficult to a lot of people and these kind of encounters are usually awkward but can also be interesting in some cases. One never knows who they talk to and can also lead to becoming friends. Working at SFU I get a chance to meet a lot of students and clients and talk to them.

There has been this one student who I see almost every week at the downtown campus and we used to see each other and give a friendly nod when we pass by, have never spoken to each other just the nods every single time. This encounter changed when I went to the Hollywood theatre last weekend for a concert. I had gone with my friends for a concert and we had been drinking enough to enjoy the concert when I went to the bar again to get a drink. I order a gin and while waiting I look over to my right and there the guy from the university was standing next to me. And we both look at each other and go “Hey bro I have seen you somewhere!” and we start laughing out loud when we realized that we are the same guys who nod each other while passing by on campus. We get to talking and find out that is from the same city as me and then we start talking in Hindi. Once we are done I go back to my group in the crowd and tell them about this encounter and we all just had a good laugh about this. Next day while working I see him again but it was back to the friendly nods.

This was a very funny unexpected encounter with someone who I found out is from the same city as me but never spoke to till we met in a more social setting.
